SOS Mediterranean and MSF Return to Campaign Off Libya

The NGO SOS Méditerranée, together with Médecins Sans Frontières, announced on Sunday (July 21st) the launch of a new rescue campaign off the Libyan coast with the ship Ocean Viking.

These operations resumed seven months after the immobilisation of their ship Aquarius, which was without a flag.

The new Norwegian-flagged Ocean Viking has 30 people on board.

The ship has been heading towards the Mediterranean from the North Sea since 18 July.

Its crew will carry out new rescue operations in the world’s deadliest maritime migration route.
