Kenya’s First African Mayor Passes Away Without Knowing Final Verdict

Kenya’s First African Mayor Passes Away on Monday without knowing the final verdict on his court case. Mr Charles Wanyoike Rubia had sued the government for a record high of Sh.40 billion after he was arrested, detained and tortured during President Moi’s regime.
Earlier his comrade Kenneth Matiba won a case on the grounds of torture and was subsequently awarded Sh.1 billion. Mr Rubia’s case was to be heard early next year.
